Robert Owen Academy Student Uniform & Dress Code 2017/18

Our uniform supplier is: The School Uniform Shop, St Peters Street, Hereford. HR1 2LE.  Although many of the items may be purchased from alternative suppliers if required. Iron on Academy logos can be purchased from reception.

KS4 (years 10 & 11) Students – Uniform

GIRLS

  • Black trousers which must be of a non-clingy material and must show the shape of the trouser not the leg.  No leggings, ‘skinny’ style or ripped/distressed trousers.

or

  • Black skirt which must be of a non-clingy material and hang below the finger-tips with definite ‘corners’, showing the shape of a skirt, rather than the shape of a leg.
  • White long sleeved shirt plus academy tie

or

  • White polo shirt with academy logo attached (iron on) to the left chest area
  • Black blazer with academy logo attached to the breast pocket.

or

  • Bottle green plain hoodie with academy logo attached (iron on) to the left chest area
  • Girls should wear black socks or thick black tights.

BOYS

ALL STUDENTS

Shoes

All students should wear sensible completely black shoes (no logos or differently-coloured trimmings) with low heels.  Shoes must not be made of canvas or be open toed.

Coats

Coats should be a plain colour and of an ‘outdoor’ nature, suitable for keeping the wind and cold out on a walk to school.  If students are cold, we ask them to wear a proper coat over their school jumper.  Denim jackets are not allowed.

Make up

Discreet makeup is allowed for girls

Jewellery

The only jewellery allowed is one small stud earring per ear and/or a watch.  Hooped ear rings are not permitted. To keep students safe and minimize the risk of loss, no other jewellery is allowed. Students are not to wear any facial or body piercings including nose, tongue and eyebrow piercings.  If a student has any such piercings, they will be asked to remove the jewellery, even if the hole grows over.  One charity band may be worn.

Hair Colour

Natural colour hair only.  Red and other non-natural colours are not acceptable.

SPORTS UNIFORM – GIRLS and BOYS

  • Black/Green polo shirt
  • Black/Green sports shorts (boys) / skort (girls) or plain black tracksuit bottoms
  • Black socks

VOCATIONAL SUBJECTS – GIRLS and BOYS

  • Students may be require to wear specific protective equipment eg overalls and boots. These are provided by the Academy but students are welcome to purchase their own if they wish.  Please discuss with the vocational tutors before you do so.

Post 16 Students – Dress Code

BOYS and GIRLS

Should wear smart business dress at all times unless they are working in a specific vocational area which requires a uniform or personal protective Equipment (PPE) in which case this should be warn.

The Robert Owen Academy reserves the right to send students home or isolate them where uniform and appearance is deemed inappropriate.
