D&T Textiles GCSE – AQA 4570

Coursework & Examination Breakdown:

Course work consists of one sustained project that comprises of a portfolio of work and a made outcome, this can be fashion, interior or art textiles. The accounts for 60% of the final grade.

The examination is a written exam with a design element. The examination is 1.5 hours long and the design part can be practiced before the examination. This accounts for 40% of the final grade.

Areas of Study:

Students will learn about fibres, fabrics, manufacturing, the fashion industry, decorative textiles and sewing techniques.

Special Points of Interest:

Students will have the opportunity to visit museums and galleries.

Key Dates:

Coursework submission is Easter. Examinations take place in May/June.
